Spain gave jewels and money to a young sailor called Chistopher Columbus, a portuguese navigator who wanted to go around the world and reach India.Spain wanted to conquer new lands. Columbus left Puerto de  Palo with three ships , la Niña ,La Pinta and Santa Maria. Many of his tripulation were prisoners because nobody wanted to sail in the open ocean ,it was a mistery in those times. People thought there were monsters in the sea. By accident  Columbus arrived in America. Here he called people  INDIANS because he thought this land was India. It was Americo Vespuccio who gave the name to this land.
